I thought I would slip this little tag in before the Holiday is over! Even though it is still about a week away, I haven’t gotten all too excited for Christmas yet. What really gets me all into the holiday are seeing all if the lights, the snow and beautiful decorations (and the beautifully wrapped gifts, of course). This year, the snow is really lacking, many people around here aren’t decorating and I think what’s bumming me out the most is that I will be away from my fiancé. Anyways, to get me in the Christmas mood and out of this scrugie funk, I’ve done this tag! Please enjoy and answer your fav below!
1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie(s)?
I am not bias when it comes to Christmas Movies but I tend to stick to the classic children’s movies like Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. I have to admit though, I have always hated movies like A Christmas Story or the Christmas Vacation one. I don’t find them all too entertaining or funny. I prefer the super joyous, fun and feel good movies instead.
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas Eve is my favourite. It’s exciting to open gifts up on Christmas morning, I agree. But there’s nothing better than getting cuddled in your pjs with the Christmas Tree lights on and some hot chocolate to open up presents. It makes for a super relaxing Christmas Day and a great nights sleep too!
3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
My favourite Christmas memory has got to be from last Christmas or the Christmas before. I will try not to get too sappy. In 2012, my fiancé and I moved in together and almost immediately added two amazing boys to our family: our puppies, Roger and Damien. It may sound ridiculous but they both really made the house a home. For Christmas one year, we bought them some gifts – toys, new leashes and collars and a sweater for Roger – and wrapped them up to put under the tree like the rest of the gifts. On Christmas Eve, we got them to open their gifts and it was the sweetest thing I ever saw. They were so gentle and untied the ribbons, with a bit of help, they even got through the paper. It made Christmas so much better to have them take part in it.
4. Favourite festive food?
Cookies! Christmas cookies are absolutely the most delicious part of Christmas. My family doesn’t have a staple dinner dish usually and it depends where I am, but cookies always come through the holidays. My favourites are sugar cookies, anything with coconut, peanut butter balls, anything peppermint… I love cookies.
5. Favourite Christmas gift?
That is really tough to choose! I have loved all of the tech gifts I have gotten, but I also have loved the homewares I have gotten over the past few years. However, I have always been a huge fan of the Christmas Stocking. This year, I’ve convinced my parents to do JUST a stocking and I am really pumped! If you’re stuck on the stocking, check out my Stocking Stuffer Guide from Tuesday!
6. Favourite Christmas scent?
As you know, if we’re talking about Candles, nothing beats Cherries On Snow from Yankee Candle. However, the Demeter Holiday Set has some fantastic holiday scents too! Demeter has very simple singular scents which I think is the neatest concept. My favourite is Christmas Tree.
7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
The past several years, I have worked until 3pm every Christmas Eve and then gone straight to a family get together. Because of my living situation, I have no idea what is in store this year. Back when I was young enough to believe in Santa and we opened gifts in the morning, it was always tradition to get into our PJ’s, read the Night Before Christmas and open 1 gift. It made everyone excited and ready for the next day!
9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
When I was young, I was entirely obsessed with cats. It isn’t crazily extravagant, but I’m sure it was annoying. We did get a cat in 1998 named Buffy (who was Black and Fluffy). She was not a people person in the slightest and it wasn’t until her last few years that she really warmed up to me. Honestly, I don’t think she was a Christmas gift though.
10. Whats the best part about Christmas for you?
During this season, the best thing to do is spend time with your family. I am hoping that I get the chance to spend this holiday with my fiancé but I am not sure how that is going to work yet.
The end! This time, I am going to tag a few bloggers!
Stylish, Sassy and Classy
And I would tag Writing Whimsy, but I know she is away! (Check out her blog for my second winter nail tutorial on Dec 20th!)
Til next time, ttfn x
