Beauty Blogger Tag & ANOTHER Giveaway

The other day, I was giving some thought to what I might want to post the remaining few weeks (or days) of January and realized that I haven’t done a tag in a while. With my schedule becoming more and more cluttered, I thought I may as well post this Beauty Blogger tag which I found quite happily though Up The Rollercoaster back in October. I knew I would eventually (though I didn’t picture 3 months flying by) do this tag and took some pictures while the weather was still lovely. Oh, the memories. Enjoy!

What was the first makeup item you ever purchased?
Thinking back, I don’t recall my first item of make up, but I am sure it is safe to assume it was nail polish. Does that count? If not, do Lip Smackers. I was quite the obsessed child over those little gems. I still remember the different cola scented ones. My most beloved was Cherry Dr. Pepper.

What colour/type of lipstick is taking over your collection?
Pink. I am obsessed with all shades of pink and depending on the season, I will obsess over the hot pinks to the more nude pinks and than the glitter pinks. I can’t get enough! Pictured are some of my favourite lippies and formulas sitting in my rather large collection.

What is the best drug store brand item you have ever purchased?
If I had to pick, I would have to say Revlon since it is very versatile. Their amazing foundations, tools, nail polishes, matte balms and hundreds of other things I haven’t tried but heard only good things about are always amazing quality. The products are so great, I dedicated a post to my top 5 Revlon products on

Name one high end item that is at the top of your wishlist and why.
It depends on the day! I have been really eying up new cleansers especially with the Sephora double points deal on all skin care that was just on. A few things I have been constantly debating would be the Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Babydoll which I have a sample of in my bag and adore to no end. Perhaps a new lipstick as they have some amazing formulas. Something about YSL has been calling my name this month…

Which beauty item do you have a hard time saying “no” to?
Lipstick. I seem to have some self control when it comes to other aspects of cosmetics but lipsticks are a whole other story. Really though, you can never have enough of one shade because there are so many different finishes, staying powers, formulas and mixes you can make with lipstick. Plus, I find that it is one of the few things I reapply multiple times a day. Have I justified it yet?

Show us a picture of an item from your stash that has the best packaging.
This is such a hard choice so I narrowed it down to 3: MAC Frank N Furter with the Rocky Horror Picture Show packaging which I swooned over the minute I saw it. The colour is amazing too, don’t get me wrong, but that packaging is what sold it. I also have been loving the sleekness and shine of the Dior Diorshow overcurl mascara that I bought (but haven’t used yet) a while ago. Dior has amazing packaging though, right? Lastly, and most practically, I love the Annabelle Stay Sharp Waterproof Kohl Eye liner (and lip liner) pencils. Pretty self explanatory, but the novilty hasn’t worn off. Having a constantly sharp liner is simply so convenient and an added bonus is the lid is very securely on if you plan to cart it around with you.

Which beauty technique would you like to master?
Flawless foundation/concealer. I have a lot of issues with oil and acne, so it’s a challenge for me to have and maintain a flawless base. It’s all about finding a good colour match plus a primer that works well with the foundation would be great and a super high coverage concealer. Please leave any suggestions with me.

What does your beauty storage station look like? (Share a picture if you’d like)
I love my vanity. It is so practical and holds so much stuff. It is literally a desk which my parents have always had since I can remember. They no longer wanted it when I moved out so it came with me. When I started to get really into make up, it turned into my vanity and I am so pleased! 7 drawers plus all the table space I could ever want.

What is the best part of being a Canadian BB?
Hands down, the brands. There are so many gems that (apparently) aren’t available in other countries such as, get ready for it, Annabelle. Promise I wont go on and on, but I literally have so many of their products in my daily routine that I couldn’t imagine being without them. A few others would be Montagne Jeunesse, Marcelle, Quo…

Which brand do you WISH was available in Canada?
There are several, and I am sure I can’t think of them all. Collection, MUA, Jordana, Jesse’s Girl, Lorac, Milani, Makeup Revolution, Chi Chi, Coastal Scents, BH Cosmetics, Jordana… My list is long. I am sure most, if not all, of these can be shipped to Canada for a price, but that price can sometimes be crazy and totally not worth it.

Explain your one beauty discovery that totally changed the makeup game for you.
My Annabelle Brow pencil. Perfect shade, easy application, and probably the only product I use every single day. I only own 3 brow products: this pencil, a powder and a gel, but I always go back to the Annabelle pencil.

Pick one palette from your collection – show us a picture of it, and tell us why you LOVE it.
I am not even close to a palette queen, but the one I likely love the most is my BH Cosmetics Galaxy Palette. One of my first, it is so shimmery and fantastic. The colours are out of this world – literally – and are so diverse and beautiful. Bonus, they are so pigmented and inexpensive.

Name some of your favourite youtube beauty gurus.
Check out my top FIVE YouTube beauty gurus! I couldn’t narrow it down any more than that.

What is your ‘holy grail’ item and why?
My skincare items are all holy grail items to me. It is the most important step in my beauty routine. I just posted my current routine but in that, I didn’t include the Glam Glow Mud Mask that is my number 1 fav skincare product. Though expensive, it works wonders and I constantly go back to it.

Lightning round!

Lipstick finish – matte or shine? Matte

Nail polish – solid colour or glitter? Both!

Foundation – liquid, solid, or powder? Liquid

Lip gloss or lip balm? Lip balm
