Never have I ever thought of myself as a neutral girl. Bright colours and bold cosmetics have always been significantly more enticing and much funner to play around with. As I age and go about my day to day life, however, I have started to pay closer attention to the different nudes, browns and taupe’s that everyone else seems to rant and rave about. These past few months, I have had to step away from my vanity and give my eye (and skin) a make up break. If I was feeling up to it, I kept my look pretty low key and that’s about the time when this lovely little trio was released.
As you know from my January favourites and latest haul, I have taken quite a liking to the Make Up For Ever Tease Me Innocence lip trio** inspired by 50 Shades of Grey*. Typically, I shy away from cosmetic kits that are ‘step by step’ but this beauty is a hard one to resist. Included are three full sized lip products in a medium nude shade, all of which are available for purchase outside of the trio (now sold out).
Though I have used the liner and gloss, I have yet to try out this beautiful Aqua Rouge lip colour that was included in the set. At $29, the MUFE Aqua Rouge in the shade 3 (Satin Soft Pink) is also sold out! I am sure that is a good enough indication that it is a fantastic product. In the next few days, I will absolutely be giving it a try! Watch for a swatch on my Instagram.
Onto what I have been using lately, we have the MUFE Aqua Lip Waterproof lip liner in 3C (medium natural beige) and my new favourite gloss, the MUFE Lab Shine Lip Gloss in D16 (shimmering beige). Initially, I make sure my lips are moisturized as I do whenever using a lip liner. This makes applying lip liner so much smoother with the same amount of staying power.
On bare lips, I drew directly on my lip line with the pencil. It is smooth to apply so the less pressure, the better. As I outlined my lips, I coloured in only near corners of my mouth leaving the centre bare except around the edges. The point is to create a shadowy effect, making your pout appear slightly bigger.
Once the lip liner is done, I added the gloss to the bare areas of my lip first, trying not to smudge the lip pencil too much before finishing off the rest of the lips. I also like to trace over the edges with the wand afterwords to make sure the entire lip is even.
I have said a few things already about this gloss, but hear me when I say this has completely changed how I feel about glosses. It is so comfortable to wear and very low maintenance but still gorgeous. The Diamond collection specifically is flawless with it’s micro glitter and overall shine. I plan to pick up a few more of these $22 babes in the coming months.
The pictures are a bit pinker than the actual product appears in person, but you get a pretty good idea of what it looks like. The combination is very professional and perfect for just about any look – especially a minimal make up look like I have been rockin’ lately. Subtle yet beautiful.
Til next time, ttfn x
