Rimmel Products Worth Buying

In Canada (and the US), I really don’t think Rimmel products get the love they deserve. I have only heard a few YouTubers (that aren’t from the UK) talk about the products and I don’t understand. Is it not widely available in the US? Rimmel is one brand that has always been able to draw me in. Everything that they come out with just calls my name and typically, I try it out. Truthfully, I have been distracted from the brand lately, but there are some fantastic finds that I’ve constantly used and loved so I thought I should share.

Number 1 is an oldie for me but an amazing mascara none the less. I love the Volume Flash Scandaleyes mascara.  When I was in my teens, I was so wickedly obsessed with this that I never ever strayed from it for a good 3-4 tubes (over a year, in other words). When I did branch out, I was very disappointed in what I had found even in mascaras that were raved about which has given me a bit of a negative view on drug store mascara, if I am honest. I went right back to this baby until I started to look at the higher end mascaras out there. This stuff is so black and wet which I can’t get enough of. I recommend playing with it a little because of the formula but the lashes are so worth it. If you are looking for lengthy, super dark lashes, give this a try. For $5ish, there is no going wrong.

Another absolutely phenominal product is the Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal Eyeliners which I have used in my Winter Make Up tutorial. They are truly a soft and bendable eyeliner with fantastic shades including the nude colour that so many people have raved about. I have gone through a few in the past and they are some of my favourite.

Lets talk concealer – and not the Wake Me Up concealer which I have heard a lot about. I want to introduce you to the fantastic world of the Rimmel Match Perfection concealer. This stuff works some magic under your eyes, let me tell you. It is brightening and doesn’t budge which is unheard of, for me any ways. When I wear this, not only does it not goop up into oily puddles under my eyes, but it also doesn’t settle into my lovely undereye wrinkles! Can you imagine? Bonus, it is light enough that it actually does highlight – pale girls, check it out.

Where would this list be without a classic Rimmel product? The Stay Matte Translucent powder has saved my face from many shiny, oily and slick days. As you can tell, it is very well loved but not just by me! I have heard so much ranting and raving about this drugstore gem that I had to try it myself. Now, I think it would be a hard product to live without. I use it to set my foundation, concealer or even on days I don’t want to wear much, I throw this on with a primer underneith and feel pretty darn good.

Depending on your whereabouts, there is the Rimmel Apocalips or Show Off lip lacquer. Not only pigmented and gorgeous, but it stays put. It REALLY stays put. My first impression of this product was actually not too great because I got a colour that looked so horrible on me and it does have a slight smell, but the more I wore it and other shades I bought, I began to love it and even prefer to to most of my other lip glosses/lacquers.

Lastly, another Scandaleyes product. Let’s just say that the Rimmel Scandaleyes line is flawless and be done with it, okay? I always use a primer with these because they are so creamy and blendable that they do end up creasing a little, but from what I can tell, they are very comparable to the Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pops in consistency and come in a wide variety of colours. They feel great going on with no issues (except, as I said, some creasing).

Some swatches of pretty much every product. Bottom to top: Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal in Silver, Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal in Nude, Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick in Bulletproof Beige, Apocalips in Celestial, Show Off in Apocaliptic and the Match Perfection Concealer in 125 Fair.

Til next time, ttfn x
