Ok, so perhaps it isn’t the season for heavy glitter and glam, but who could say no to this beautiful gold twinkle? After my eye healed up a few weeks ago, I wanted to play around with some new and some forgotten things that I haven’t been able to use in months and months. I promise to take it easy on the glitter next time…
But for now, let’s talk about these eyes. This was my first time using the Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pop sticks so I threw on some of the Too Faced Shadow Insurance before hand to make sure it stuck. Then, the beautiful and magical Twinkle Pop in Honey Bunny. To intensify, another newbie for me is the L’Oreal Infallable Shadow in the colour Champagne Beige. The sparkle that these two created is angelic.
To create a crease, I used the NYX eyeshadow which is simply a blue-purple. Believe it or not, I own very few NYX products due to their extreme lack of availability in Canada. This eye shadow came to me many, many months ago in an ipsy bag, however, and I hadn’t touched it.
For the face, I primed as usual with the Benefit That Gal primer which I am trying to use up. The point of using it was to add some exta glow and radiance to match the eyes. To fix the redness in my face, I slathered some Maybelline Coverstick concealer in green before applying the Rimmel Clean Finish Matte foundation which I recently reviewed and have been enjoying.
I popped on some Maybelline Instant Age RewindDark Circle eraser as an under eye concealer and pulled out the Vichy Dermablend foundation to use as a concealer for my acne. It is a fantastic product if you have harsh spots, but it is quite heavy! To set everything, I used some Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. I know that sounds a little counter-productive to the glowyness I was going for, but if I don’t use something mattifying, I am an oil slick after a few hours! After another layer of under eye concealer, it was time to finish the eyes.
Now that my face is done, to finish off the eyes, I threw on some more of the Twinkle Pop (which is an awesome name for these things) under the eye as well as the NYX shadow, did my brows up in the Annabelle Retractable Eyebrow Pencil, and made my lashes pop with an old favourite, the Volume Express Scandaleyes mascara from Rimmel. With a bit of the Rimmel Scandaleyes eye liner in nude, I lined the waterline for a cleaner look.
To bring back some of that glow, the Mary Lou-Manizer highlighter and the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hr blush in Exposed. Fun fact, shortly after this, my Mary Lou-Manizer shattered into a million pieces and I just about cried. It was already breaking, but once it hit the floor, there is no going back. I am going to get a small container and use it as a loose highlight rather than trying to fix it in the pan I think – anyone have any advice?
Now for the lip, I wanted something a little subtle but would still match the look so I picked up the Marc Jacobs lipstick in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. The formula of this is fantastic which is truly what makes it stand out. It is just a sample but I plan to purchase more.
That’s the completed look! You might recognize it from the terrible dry shampoo review that came out earlier this month, hence why my hair is looking a little funky here. I hope you enjoy the look!
Til next time, ttfn x
