These past few months have been so busy with moving, illness and family that February and March completely slipped away from me. I didn’t end up doing a February Favourites and Unfavourites because I simply didn’t have much to say. Now that two months have come and gone, however, I have quite a few products to talk about and not all of them are good.
Starting with body and skin care, I want to talk about the Nip + Fab Body Slim Fix body lotion. I bought this a while ago on sale at Shoppers when I was looking for a body moisturizer. I figured that it would help in toning and firming the skin and who wouldn’t want that? To be honest, I haven’t seen dramatic results but it is moisturizing without it being too sticky or thick which is what I like. Like most things, I was also captivated by the smell. Supposedly, it smells like green coffee which I haven’t heard of before but it smells fantastic.
Speaking of coffee, let’s move right along to the Jealous Body Scrub. I have done a full review on this stuff so I wont ramble on too much but having used it quite a few more times, I can totally vouch for it. It makes my skin feel new, plus eliminates the need for half of what I keep in my shower. I don’t use it every day since it is so abrasive, but I tend to use it weekly and wash it off with an exfoliating mitt since the coconut oil will give me breakouts. Another amazing Canadian product!
When I am not exfoliating my face with the Jealous Body Scrub, I am cleansing it with the Clean and Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser. I picked this up a while ago because I was looking for a drugstore cleanser but also something with Benzoyl Peroxide in it. Salicylic acid kind of works for me but it never got rid of my day to day acne so I wanted to see what this did. So far, I haven’t soon a huge improvement. I have been getting really big painful bumps on my cheeks but I haven’t been testing it for long so I can’t say it isn’t doing anything. The reason it’s on my love list is because of how cool it feels when you use it. My face immediately tingles and starts to cool. I love the sensation and it feels like it is truly penetrating my pores to clean them out.
Another pore cleaner that I am sure has been ranted and raved about more times than I can imagine is the Glam Glow Super Mud Clearing Treatment. This mask is a staple in my collection because it really works. I have been battling with black heads around my chin/lips which have been slowly and surely disappearing as I use this mask up. I get instant clean, firmer skin with less noticeable imperfections. Sounds good to me!
A while ago (likely when I was buying one of the products from my latest haul), I received a few samples of the Vichy Night Detox Cream. I plan on doing a review in the near future because I fell so in love with it, I picked up this $29 bottle of product asap. Stay tuned!
Onto some fun stuff, there are 3 face make up products I have really enjoyed the past few months. Number one which I have mentioned in a few posts is the Maybelline Coverstick Corrector Concealer. My skin has some natural redness in the cheeks which makes my foundation appear much darker than it actually is when I apply it. So, after applying some of this on my dark spots and redness, my foundations tend to match beautifully. I have also loved the Hard Candy Glamoflauge concealer on my imperfections. Finally, a concealer that actually matches my skin AND gives heavy duty coverage. How could I not love it?
A blush that totally blew me away is the Colourpop blush In Aphrodesiac that I picked up in a recent haul. I have never been into the brownie natural look when it comes to blush, but this creamy blush gives my cheeks something special every time I put it on. It becomes more of a pinky undertone as it sheers out onto the skin. I was so surprised at how beautiful it looks.
For eyes, I have used the Too Faced Shadow Insurance every single day I wear eye shadow. I have a few samples of this laying around and finally decided to use them on my greasy lids. Man, what a difference. Shadows stay in place and become more pigmented with a tiny bit of product.
This Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pop in Honey Bunny is mind-blowingly sparkley. Around Christmas, I saw a review by one of my most beloved youtubers, Vintage Or Tacky, about the Twinkle Pops and have drooled over them since. I picked this colour up shortly after but didn’t use it due to my stye. After that thing was done and over with, I broke it out and used it in my Metallic Glam look last week. It stole the show. Since then, I have used it way more often than I should as a base but how could I resist? It’s so pretty!
Lastly, another Vintage Or Tacky influenced buy is the Make Up For ever Artist Shadows. At Sephora, if you buy 3 + the case, you basically get a shadow FREE so that’s what I went for. You can pick any three but I was on the hunt for some good pinks and that green was to die for. I picked up shades D850, I340 and M856. How much does this trio remind you of watermelon?

Ok, now for the dreary part of the post: my two unfavourites. First up is the Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo which I reviewed so I wont give this crappy thing any more attention. Take a look and tell me yourself what you think! Secondly is the Jordana Eye Liner in White which has zero pigment and is hard as a rock. As I mentioned in my haul, it could be just because it is old but man, was it disappointing. I am going to see if heating it up a bit will change its tune, RachLoves style, but I have little hope that I will change my mind about this thing.
Til next time, ttfn x
