May 2015 Favourites & Unfavourites

This month, I have discovered and rediscovered some fantastic products that I wanted to share. Let’s waste NO time and jump right into my monthly favourites!

Starting at the top with a dry shampoo. I reviewed this in a battle of the brands post last month but hadn’t used this second scent that I received from Farley Co. It’s The COLAB Sheer Invisible dry shampoo in the amazing scent Rio. This gives your hair a boost, a bit of a clean and an amazing smell. I will be picking up this scent again once I have used up a few other dry shampoos I have kicking around.

A few prep products I have are Murads Oil-Control Mattifier and MAC Prep and Prime Fix + spray. I have had both of these since about December but only pulled them out recently. The Murad moisturizer is full of an amazing, mattifying miracle cream. Your skin instantly deslicks and controls the oil I always have puddling on my face. I am so impressed and truly happy about how well this stuff works. For MAC Prep and Prime, I knew this stuff had to be pretty good. I bought it to use for eyeshadow effects, but find I use it to keep my face fresh or as a setting spray or for just about anything else. It is versatile and sets my make up like NOTHING else I own.

Step two is of course foundation and concealer. I have been loving the Diorskin Forever flawless perfection foundation (shade 23) now that I have a bit more colour. The finish is completely flawless. I am also loving the added SPF bonus you get with this foundation and how buildable it is. Under my eyes, I have been using the other two products shown: Ecotools Complection Perfection Eye Perfecting brush and the (barely recognizable) Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer in Ivory. It doesn’t have a lot of coverage, but it is super brightening. As for the brush, I had talked about it in my Whatcha Think About… Ecotools Brushes. It is amazing, fantastic, awesometastic and beautiful to boot. The brush is so dense but gentle and blends everything out fast. Boop, boop, done.

On the topic of brushes, this lovely Sephora Collection Skinny Cheek Contour brush has been my favourite little contour brush of all time. It just cuts everything out. I am not big on contouring, but I do do a little bit to my temple and cheeks.  Speaking of which, this Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder trio has been what I use for bronzing and highlighting my skin. I basically use the lightest shade all over my face and the darkest shade to bronze/contour my face. It gives the nicest glow to the skin when used and has lasted me over a year (and the powder barely looks live I have touched it).
At first, I wasn’t so crazy about this Maybelline palette. The powders felt a little dusty and it wasn’t as pigmented as I was hoping. However, I have found myself using this just about every day for something. Even today, I set my eye shadow primer with the bottom right pink shade, and I exclusively used it to do the Blue look in my Pop of Colour post. The little eyebrow product at the top there is the BH Cosmetics Studio Pro HD Brow pencil which I have been testing out and love how natural it makes my brows look. The colour is great, the formula is ok – a little hard but it stays ALL day – and having a spoolie on the end is awesome!

For the lips, my picks have been a little all over the map. We have the awesome nudey pink from Bite Beauty in Madeira which came in the Sephora Favourites: Bronze Bares All collection which I reviewed recently. It is an awesome nude for me. A super vibrant coral colour I have loved has been the NYC Expert Last Lip Colour in Pure Coral. This doesn’t last too long on the lips, but it feels amazing and looks just as good. Lastly, this Cargo lippie was passed on to me from my cousin. She received it in her ipsy bag and it was too light for her skin tone. I have been totally loving it though. Typically, colours like this really wash me out but this colour has not at all. The formula is lovely as well.

Lastly, my nail polishes of choice last month were almost exclusively one of these two. This is the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail polish in Coral Reef and Formula X in Evocative (also from the Sephora Collection: Bronze Bares All collection). Gorgeous and summery, they have both been awesome to wear.

That’s all! I have had all good experience with products this month (woohoo). Hopefully this month is equally as good to me.

Til next time, ttfn x
