Summertime Polish Picks: All About Neon

It’s time to check out my favourite product: nail polish. There are so many nail polishes I could have picked for this but I have narrowed it down to the ones I always seem to think of when summer rolls around. I really gravitate towards neon and highlighter colours during this bright and sunny season, and nothing screams bright quite like a fluorescent pink.

Let’s talk Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear nail colour. That’s a mouth full but it is worth it. These are about $2-$3 dollars depending on where you pick it up and have some beautiful bright shades. The formula is pretty good for the price but I always wear a top and base coat. The three colours I reach for are Coral Reef, Sun Kissed and Blue Me Away (which I accidentally bought twice because I saw it in store and fell in love with it a second time). They are very bright and bold colours, perfect for a mani or pedi.

Of course, OPI had to be included on this list. For the most part, I would say just indulge in their Neon collection if you want some beautiful shades, but I thought I would pick my favourites from the collection (and add one from a previous winter collection). From the 2014 Neons, I have Hotter Than You Pink and Juice Bar Hopping which were rereleased for this years neon collection (meaning you can pick these up RIGHT NOW). The formula is not my favourite, but the colours are amazing! Hotter Than You Pink has a slight blue shimmer in it – so unique from anything else I own. Juice Bar Hopping is the most vibrant orange I own by far. They may have changed the formulation this year, but they both come out pretty sheer and matte which threw me off at first but with a top coat, I am very happy with them. I also have Hey Baby from Gwen Stephani’s Holiday collection in 2014. It isn’t totally a neon, but it is a bright cream and beautiful pink shade that I love. Pure pink.

The last pick I have is a gorgeous purple pink from the Deborah Lippmann Party Set named Between the Sheets. The minute I swatched this, I have been counting the days until summer so I could wear it. Again, not so neon, but absolutely bright and with an amazing formula. You cannot go wrong with this polish.

Be sure to check out the rest of the neons I can’t stop talking about and the Sunny Summer eye shadow tutorial from last week!

Til next time, ttfn x
