Taking Out The Trash: February-July 2015

I have finished up 3 different cleansers: the Clean and Clear Continous Control Acne Wash which I used exclusively for cleaning my brushes, the Murad Essential-C Cleanser which I quite like but is expensive and the Laura Mercier Flawless Face Polish which I did a first impression on a few weeks ago. I will likely not be repurchasing any of these.

3 moisturizing products I used right up: the Murad Essential-C Daily Moisture with SPF 30, the Body Shop Absinthe Purifying Hand Lotion and the Vichy Normaderm Night Detox. I am 100% buying the Vichy Normaderm Night Detox lotion again. It is the only thing I have ever used that completely stopped my acne and I am currently missing it pretty badly. The other two I can do without but worked pretty well while they lasted.

This is a random assortment of things. First, we have the Clean and Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment. It worked pretty well but was drying. The Murad Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening serum came with the other two Essential-C products listed above. I used it to lighten acne scars but just like the other two, it is pretty pricy and I am not willing to take the plunge quite yet. Lastly, that labelless bottle I used for a witch hazel and tea tree oil toner (featured in a haul a while back) which I didn’t really care for. I am not sure if I didn’t like it because I didn’t like the spraying thing or the actual product. Either way, I will not be repurchasing.

I used up quite a number of masks and honestly, I didn’t keep all of them just because I either forgot to set them aside or I didn’t want to have 5-10 of the same mask package floating around. Either way, I will likely repurchase all of the masks shown in the future at some time or another, but I have to finish up quite a few more before then! Click below to see my reviews.

Shown: Life brand Tightening Facial Sheet Mask, Life Brand Detoxifying mask, Montagne Jeunesse Glacial Clay Spa, Fruit Smoothie mask and Passion Peel Off mask, Pilaten Black Head pore strip, VII Code O2M Oxygen eye mask, Sephora Pearl fiber mask, Sephora Pomegranate fiber mask and finally, Sephora Honey fiber mask.

Make Up Wipes

You may recall I was pretty excited about the Ole Henriksen Cleansing Clothes. Here are the remains: 1 30 pack of the Grease Relief cleansing clothes, 1 10 pack of the Grease Relief cleansing clothes and 1 10 pack of the Clean Truth cleansing clothes. I will be picking up more of these and any formulas I haven’t tried before in the near future. I also had a pack of the Balea 3 in 1 cleansing clothes and the Life Brand 3 in 1 cleansing clothes which I will probably pick up in the future too. They look pretty similar, huh?

I went through a few foil packets just to get rid of them. The only two I cared for were the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Treatment which smelled fantastic and worked very well and the Olay Fresh Effects Swirled Mattifier. I am giving these two products some thought and if I decide to pick them up, you will be sure to hear about it!

Shown: Lancome Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector, Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream, Olay Fresh Effects Swirlled Mattifier, Dr. Brandt Needles No More, Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Serum and Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Treatment.

About 80% of the primers I own are delux samples so I was trying to work through them. None of these really interested me or targeted the issues I want my primer to target so I will likely not be picking up the full sizes any time soon. 5 down, 20 to go!

Shown: Cover FX Mattifying Primer, Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer, Too Faced Primed and Poreless Face Primer, Benefit’s That Gal Brightening Face Primer, Hourglass Mineral Veil primer.

The two mascaras shown are from when I had my stye so they had to be tossed but I totally love the YSL Baby Doll mascara. It is sitting on my wishlist, waiting for my mascara collection to dwindle down a bit before I get my hands on it. I don’t really recall much about the Blinc mascara unfortunately, so I likely wont be purchasing it. The Chella eye liner totally dried out and I didn’t get to use it too much so I will not be purchasing it. The Red Cherry Lashes in #523 are gorgeous and fantastic and I managed to loose one somehow after only 1 use! So far, they are my favourite brand of lashes so I will be picking these up and likely more!

3 concealers, 2 sprays and a brow product is all I have for face empties. The two Urban Decay All Nighter Make Up Setting Spray was pretty good while it lasted, but I think I am going to give powders a try for setting my make up from now on just because I am so oily. I did not like the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind at all. I was so disappointed at the amount of creasing, though the brightening shade did a very good job of brightening. That nameless concealer there I am proud to say is totally empty! It is the Maybelline Dream Lumi which I recommend. It was one of the products I was trying to finish before August and I finished it with the very next use. I may repurchase this but for now, I have a similar product from Rimmel to use up. No empties would be complete without the Annabelle Skinny Brow liner in Universal Medium. They have recently come out with a wider variety of colours to choose from so I totally recommend giving it a try. I may try the Universal Light sometime in the future too.

All I have here are 3 different dry shampoos: the Batiste Dry Shampoo in blush which is my favourite scent from them, the Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo which I used once and will never use again and the COLAB Sheer Invisible Dry Shampoo in London which I have repurchased in other scents and now have 4 backups of… Whoops!

It saddens me to say that none of these nail polishes are actually empty, but the formula has gotten tacky and so hard to use that I am getting rid of them. The Sally Hansen Miracle Cure Strengthener and Miracle Nail Thickener are fantastic base coats at first, but get so goopy and thick at the halfway point that they are unusable now. The Sally Hansen Triple Shine isn’t quite so bad, but it is thicker and gets stringy when I use it so It’s gone. I also have the Quo Nail Polish Remover which is my go to drugstore nail polish remover.

And finally, everything else. I only have 1 candle this time and that is the B&BW Black Tie candle. I love it and am so excited to pick it up when it comes again next year (fingers crossed). I also have a deodorant from Lady Speed Stick which I am not super picky about and have already replaced of course. I also have a Murad Acne Body Wash which I have finally used up and works super well and lasts forever. I didn’t use it every time I showered, just whenever I was breaking out, but I had it for well over a year.

Til next time, ttfn x
