Manicures Made Easy

What’s the worst thing about nail polish? The dry time. Sometimes, it feels like they are finally dry and then your nail touches something ands underlay, your perfect mani is dented and smudged. I don’t know if it’s just me, but it never fails: when I start to apply nail polish, I have to pee. I have lost so many good manicures to pulling my pants up. I have used quick dry drops before and they all seem to have worked fine but I went through them like crazy. At $8-$10 a pop, I just decided to suffer through the waiting game.

One day that changed when I was browsing the Essence section at Shoppers (looking for their top coat which was sold out unfortunately) and saw this $3 bottle of dry drops. Totally worth a shot. I have pretty much had good experience with Essence so far and their prices are incredibly low which I love.

So, this claims that your nail polish will dry in 60 seconds and the formula includes Vitamin E to soften the cuticles as well. 1-2 drops is all you need per nail and though it doesn’t say where to target the drops, I was dropping them by the cuticle and angling my fingers downward to ensure my entire nail was covered. The very first thing I noticed was that it was a little messy with two drops. It’s as runny as water but does have more of an oil feel to it. You can see it shining on my fingers and that it got on the backdrop.

I did a base coat then two thin layers of the Beyond the Nail polish in Acid Wash before applying the drops and found that it did indeed dry within 30-60 seconds. I was intrigued how it would effect the top coat if I applied it before and after and found that it worked very well with this method. As I said in my August favourites/unfavourites post, I am not a fan of how gloopy the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy top coat is but this seemed to make it work slightly better.

I have been using these drops every nail polish application since purchasing it and have come to really enjoy the formula. It does act as a cuticle oil as well which is a added bonus. I am still very intrigued by the Essence Gel-Look top coat which I will hopefully find at Shoppers soon! If there are any other recommendations for a top coat, let me know!

Til next time, ttfn x
