Hey all! It’s Christmas time! Well, not really but I sure feel very festive. No matter what you celebrate this December, the most exciting thing would have to be the Holiday sets and deals. I have seen so many videos and blog posts reviewing some of the biggest holiday sets or super extravagant sets but not a whole lot of reviews about the smaller things. I thought I would start to fill that void!
I have never tried a Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick before so you could bet when I saw this set of four for a reasonable $25 price tag, I was interested. Who uses up a full sized lipstick anyway? Not me (not yet, anyway). In the set are four very wearable shades in Sangria, Punch, Mimosa and Bellini.
This Tarte packaging is super cute but I am always afraid of ruining it. If you’ve never seen or felt their lipstick packaging, it feels like cardboard but covered in a very lovely paper and I think it is meant to. It seems kind of fragile but I do love the patterns and colours. As for the size, these are quite tiny but you’re paying to try 4 shades for the price of one (a full sized Tarte lipstick is $20) and as I mentioned, when is the last time you used up a lipstick? The formula is phenomenal. Buttery is the perfect word for it. These lipsticks are some of the most comfortable I have warn but with that, they do transfer and have a slight glossy sheen.
The shades are quite sheer and wearable but definitely have a pigment and texture to them. Pictured from left to right:
Punch is a rosey mauve cream colour,
Mimosa is a peach tan shade which works as a lovely nude,
Bellini is my least favourite but it is still a very pink shade with some golden shimmer throughout,
and Sangria is the berry red shade.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase. I am excited to have tried these out, I will make use of every colour and I am so happy with how buttery they feel on. I don’t think I could bring myself to buy these lipsticks for $20 a pop simply because of the very nature of them: they are a sheer wash of colour. I don’t typically go wild with my lips but I do prefer something that doesn’t show my natural lip colour.
Have you tried any of the Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipsticks before? Have you picked up any of the Holiday sets this year?
Til next time, ttfn x
