The Palette Tag

Hey all! I’ve seen this little tag floating around the beauty community and tough I don’t remember if I was tagged (let me know if I was and I am simply forgetting), I thought it would be a whole lot of fun to do anyway.

Best Packaging: Make Up For Ever Volume 2

First of all, this palette is so minimal but also has everything you need. A mirror, big pans, colour names, slim packaging and I adore the MUFE design. As far as use is concerned, it also has an array of nudes, darks and colours to play around with. It’s a lot of fun.

Most Colour Payoff: Lorac Pro 2

The Lorac shadow formula might be my favourite. Every swatch above was a light touch in the pan and only one swipe. Even the pale shades show up on my very fair arm. The shadows are extremely consistent across the board.

Most Versatile: BH Cosmetics 88 Cool Matte colour palette

I don’t think I could have possibly chosen another palette. This big guy has it all (despite the name). Shimmers, mattes, satin’s, every shade in many different variations. The quality can be disappointing but overall, it is very versatile.

Best for Travel: Tarte Rainforest After Dark

This small case has everything you could need: 5 very different shadows, a blush, highlight and bronzer. What more do you need powder-wise?

Biggest Regret: Essence All About Candies

I’ve mentioned my disappointment about this palette before and can you blame me? Comparing this to the Essence All About Sunrise palette is like night and day. Believe it or not, the swatches about were the most pigmented I could get them. Can you even see them?

Best Color Names: Too Faced

The Return of Sexy eye palette is the only Too Faced palette I own, but I think many people will agree Too Faced has the cutest names. They are always themed and well thought out and I ain’t just talking eye shadow. Blushes = adorable.

Least Used: BH Cosmeics Party Girl After Hours

I have had this BH Cosmetics Party Girl After Hours palette for probably 2 years now and have never even swatched it. Never used, never swatched, barely opened. I still hold onto it because I feel like it’s going to be great quality and I like the shades, but I have just always picked something else up instead of these.

Most Used: Stila Portrait of a Perfect Eye

My most used is also the one I have owned the longest: Stila’s Portrait of a Perfect Eye. It’s all I ever needed in a neutral palette.

Most Loved: ABH World Traveller Couture

Or whatever it’s called! Ever since picking this up last summer, I’ve had a hard time putting this beautiful thing down. It’s everything I ever wanted that I didn’t know I needed and it is NEVER boring. I just always feel good and inspired when I wear this. It doesn’t hurt that the shadows are A++ either.

Desert Island: Smashbox Double Exposure

Most people complain about this question so I am going to skip over that and take this as literally as possible. I chose the Smashbox Double Exposure palette because if for whatever reason, I am on a desert island and my number one priority is having great eyeshadow, this has a very decent brush and can be used wet or dry. Double the shadows for one palette.

I hope you enjoyed my take on the Palette Tag! I would love to hear your thoughts or see your answers to the tag too! Leave links below.

Til next time, ttfn x

  1. That Tarte palette gets me every. Time. It’s so pretty!! I totally don’t have room in my stash for another palette (I’m trying to thin out my stash, and hrrngh is it ever hard), but I love how plummy and rich the tones are.

And that Essence palette — eep! I was curious about that one when it came out, but I’m super glad that I missed out on it now!
