Spring Flings 2017

Yes, I am super late to the game on this one (as it is now officially summer) but I thought it was worth sharing anyway. Things have been busy over here between helping with my cousin’s wedding, big changes at work, and enjoying the beautiful weather. That being said, this Spring seems to have really made me fall back in love with make up, nails, and blogging, so I have a few of my absolute favourites to talk about today.

Spring-fling-All

NYX Liquid Suede in Stone Fox
I have been having a hard time getting out of the winter dark lipstick trend, have you? I have mainly been reaching for cool toned shades whether it is a deep purple hue or this gorgeous grey from NYX. These do transfer, which is the only bummer, but the formula is comfortable and is still flattering as it wears away. I find this easy to apply and reapply on-the-go despite it being a darker shade. All in all, this unique shade is amazing and I recommend it if you ‘re into funkier lipsticks.

Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Palette
I have been going pretty light and neutral on the eyes lately and so this is my go-to palette hands down. These Kat Von D shadows are pigmented, blendable and powdery which is exactly what I look for in an eye shadow. Though these are natural, neutral nudes, there is still a heap of variety in this palette which makes it fun and inspiring. Even when I am feeling like a pop of colour, I can use this palette as a base before going for one of my colourful palettes or single shadows. It pretty much goes with anything.

Spring-fling-1

Beyond the Nail Polish in Supernova with Starrily Menchie the Cat Nail Polish
I am currently all about holographic nails and so this combination gives me so much life. The pink hues work well together and depending on the lighting, you have a lovely rainbow glow that lasts. Both polishes easy to apply with a smooth formula and are cruelty-free so I recommend trying them out if you haven’t already.

Nars Radient Creamy Concealer in Vanilla
I don’t think I need to go on about this concealer as I have before just like so many others. This concealer just makes your undereye area look smooth and bright while being comfortable and (relatively) creaseless. Although this has definitely been in favourites before, I thought I would mention a little hack that I had learned that is quick and easy to get more from your product. I recommend only doing this when you’re running low on concealer, but when the time comes, remove the little device that removes excess product from your brush. It can easily be removed with tweezers and allows you to dig for more product along the sides.

The Honest Company Deodorant in Bergamot Sage
My new favourite deodorant: the Spray On deodorant. If you haven’t tried a spray deodorant, I recommend it. This one from The Honest Company in particular lasts all day without the feeling of product on your pits. It is lightweight with a bit of an earthy scent (as it is bergamot sage) and it lasts for quite a while. It is natural and cruelty free without the use of coconut oil (which breaks me out and is also in many natural stick deodorants).

ecotools muslin Polishing Cloths
Special mention, though it isn’t pictured here, are the Ecotools Muslin Polishing cloths. These are the gentlest way I have found to wash my face. I plan write an entire post about the various ways I use these to save time, money and being less wasteful (so stay tuned) but they are all I plan to use from now on to clean my skin.

#MOTD: Something Old, Something New

And no, this isn’t another wedding post.

Inspired by Beauty With Emily Fox on YouTube, I took a look through my old favourites from the past few years that I have been blogging and put them to the test to see what I still liked and what was just a phase. Where does the ‘something new’ come in? I had to fill in the gaps with some of my current favourites from my collection. Enjoy!

Bare Minerals Prime Time Foundation Primer Original (January 2016)

This primer is still as lovely as ever. I wouldn’t say it is my number 1 primer as I do find that my skin can look a little dry and my pores are still a little bit visible, but I have kept it because I love how it feels on the skin.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless foundation in 110 Porcelain (January 2016)

My favourite thing about this foundation is the colour match. Other than that, I wouldn’t say this is gives me either a matte or poreless finish and it doesn’t feel great on my skin. I no longer support the company as it isn’t cruelty-free but regardless, I am not in love with this product anymore.

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer (February/March 2015 and again in October 2015)

For inexpensive and full coverage, I don’t think you can beat this. It does separate a little and the packaging isn’t ideal, but I do like how this looks under the eyes.

NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Glow (August 2015)

This was my wedding day blush so you know it is still my number 1. I love how this blush gives life to my skin with a bit of a glow without the oil slick. I prefer cream blushes and find that this one is one of the more pigmented with fantastic staying power.

elf HD Undereye Setting Powder and Tone Correcting Powder (CURRENT)

I am blown away that I haven’t raved about these two inexpensive, cruelty-free powders. I rarely will use anything else. They both set my make up well without oxidizing or drying out my skin. They are easy to use and apply, and keep my oily skin under control. I do need to touch up through the day (I use blotting papers to do so) but these look and feel so good.

Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighter (July 2015)

That glow though. I still love this highlighter. It has a gorgeous, healthy shine to it while being a good balance of natural and glamourous.

Annabelle Skinny Brow Liner in Universal Medium (pictured is Universal Taupe – January 2016)

This is my go-to and it is drugstore. I am constantly using these up and repurchasing them. If there is one item you try from this post, it should be this.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance (February/March 2015)

This is another product that I use every day and have multiple backups of. It is my favourite eye primer because of how smooth it feels on the lids and how beautifully pigment sticks to it.

March Jacobs Twinkle Pop in Honey Bunny (February/March 2015 and again in December 2015)

This isn’t quite an every day product for me, but when I need a pop of glossy, glittery shine, this is the only thing I reach for. I set this with a few shades in the ABH MR palette (next) here but the cream shadow still shines through. It is simply gorgeous.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette (Fall 2016)

Who doesn’t love this palette? It has so many warm tones, a good variety of colour and neutrals, and the formula is simply one of the best.

Annabelle Stay Sharp Metallic eyeliner in Bronzy (September 2015)

This entire range of Stay Sharp products from Annabelle are 100% worth checking out. I have loved everything I have tried. This particular shade is my favourite because it works so well with my eye colour, but they all stay put and are easy to apply.

Marcelle Double Precision Liquid Liner (CURRENT)

I forgot how much I am in love with this matte, drugstore liner. It is easy to apply and pigmented. I don’t know how I haven’t mentioned this one before either because it has been a favourite since highschool.

Buxom Lash Mascara (CURRENT)

This is a super dark, lengthening mascara that doesn’t disappoint. If you are not a fan of the Too Faced BTS mascara because it is clumpy, here is your not-so-clumpy dupe (to clarify, I do love them both).

Bite High Pigment Pencil in Madeira (May 2015)

This shade isn’t available but I am sure Bite has a similar shade in their permanent collection. Bite specializes in lip products so of course, they are amazing. The one and only issue I have is the wear time but honestly, they feel so lovely to apply that I don’t mind.

Make Up For Ever Lab Shine Lip Gloss in D16 (January 2015)

This lip gloss line is no longer available but luckily, I have found a new favourite that is pretty similar and there is no surprise, it is from Bite. The Bite Lush Fruit Lip Gloss line is the same thick and glossy shine that lasts which is what I loved about the MUFE gloss.

I hope you enjoyed this blast from the past – I know I did! Let me know which ones you’ve tried.

Five Fall Favourites 2016

We’re starting slow.
I’m here with some of my fall favourites after a long winded absence. I hope you didn’t miss me too much. While I’ve been gone, I got married, we bought a car, and I took the chance to organize my life a little bit. It was a stressful few months but happy none-the-less. Though I did slow down on buying and even wearing make up, skin care and nail polish, I was able to find some fantastic favourites for autumn.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette

Available at Sephora for $55 CDN.
This 14 shade palette of quality eyeshadows contains a beautiful array of warm shades with a few romantic shades sprinkled in. I have been obsessed with ABH eye shadows for some time now for their pigment, wear time and blend-ability. In fact, I wore them on my wedding day. If you haven’t already given them a try, I would recommend picking up a single or four (a single is only $16 CDN at Sephora) or take the plunge and get a coordinated palette of shadows. I seriously doubt you will regret it.

Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Matte Long Wear Lipstick in Drop Dead Red

Available at Sephora for $25 CDN.
I am very impressed by the longevity and strong pigment of these liquid lipsticks. I picked this shade up for autumn/winter since I didn’t have such a deep red in my collection and wanted something that would stay put on my lips. My only issue with this is it does transfer no matter how long I leave it to dry. It does become a beautiful matte on the lips and was not patchy in the least. I am sure I will pick up a few more of these to try during the Sephora sale (coming November).

Wet n Wild Fergie Centerstage Collection To Reflect Shimmer Palette in Hollywood Boulevard

No longer available
I received this in a make up swap a few months ago and have been loving it as a warm, golden highlight. At first glance, it doesn’t seem like it would work and would be too dark or colourful on me, but mixed, it is a lovely yellow gold highlight that is light enough for my pale skin. It’s huge, it’s inexpensive, and it’s just the right amount of highlight on the cheekbones. If you can get your hands on these highlighters, I would recommend picking one up.

Kaia Naturals The Takesumi Detox Bamboo Charcoal Deodorant in Cold Pressed Rose

Available at Kaia Naturals for $21
I will start off by saying this isn’t perfect. Does it withstand summer sweat? Not entirely. Is it inexpensive? No. However, the most noticable benefit to this deodorant so far is it is helping with the discolouration on my arm pits. The deodorant is also aluminum free, vegan and 99% natural. I have also been breakout free since using this deodorant which tends to be a theme amount natural deodorant. Though I wish it was less expensive, I am pretty pleased with it so far.

Lush Shampoo Bar in Jumping Juniper

Available at Lush for $10.95
While perusing the Lush store in my city, I came across the Shampoo Bars. These convenient little suckers have no packaging, making it a little more environmentally friendly, lather up extraordinarily well, and smell great. They seem to last quite a few washes which was my top concern when purchasing it. My hair always feel clean after using this and I can typically last three days oil-free.

Those are the 5 products I’ve been enjoying the most this autumn. What have your favourites been?

January 2016 Favourites & Unfavourites

Hey all! I have been pretty quiet around these parts this 2016 but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been playing with new things and rediscovering old. I am going to start with some exciting news (for me at least) and that is…

I will be joining the YouTube crowd starting as early as next week. I am very excited since YouTube is where I started my beauty obsession and ultimately, it’s where I wanted to end up. My first random favourite is actually the reason I am able to give it a try and that is my new Sandisk SD card. I was having a million and one issues getting my camera to film and tried many different things to troubleshoot my problem including but not limited to trying multiple SD cards (including one I had bought off of Amazon before this but it didn’t work either), upgrading the firmware on my Camera, trying every setting multiple times, watching a good 2+ hours worth of YouTube videos to figure out the different settings and what might be optimal, and then finally, going to Best Buy and picking up this 32GB class 10 baby. Ain’t she lovely?

Not even remotely along the same lines, I have been loving the Jasmine scent from Demeter**. It seems to have mixed reactions but honestly, I just love it. This is a lovely scent for the home or to wear and I can foresee me wearing this quite a bit in the spring. It is floral but very fragrant so blending it with other scents to tone it down might be your best bet and that’s what I do.

For skin care, there have been two major key elements joining my regular routine: serums and sheet masks. I have tried both before but didn’t care about them enough to incorporate them into my daily or even weekly regimen. This time around with my mind a little more open to the possibilities, I started using the many THEFACESHOP sheet masks I ordered on Boxing day. These sheet masks seem to stick to my skin and fit my face shape well. Each mask does actually appear to do something different too which was my first question when I ordered the amazing variety I did. They are a variety of hydrating, plumping, cooling, soothing, and have been a very enjoyable experience thus far with my favourite of them all being the Cucumber sheet mask.

As for serums, I switch daily between the Murad Environmental Shield and Philosophy Time in a Bottle. If I had to pick, I prefer the consistency of the Philosophy serum since it is easier to spread evenly across your skin. My skin is noticeably brighter with both of these under my morning moisturizer and that’s how I like it.

I have an oldie, a goodie and a newie eye product to talk about. For the oldie, I have been using the Annabelle Skinny Brow pencil in Universal Medium every single day. It can’t be beat. Quick, easy, lovely results, a good price, great shade range and cruelty-free to boot. I do think a decent spoolie on the end would make this product that much better but otherwise, it’s perfection.

The Voluminous Miss Manga mascara from L’Oreal is a goodie. I totally changed my mind about it since I used it the first time (what a mess) and have been using it pretty consistently since as early as November for some pretty gorgeous lashes. I don’t like how the wand bends still personally, but the formula and head work much better now for me.

What palette is that? Too Faced The Return to Sexy eye palette that’s what. I generously received for Christmas this 2015. Talk about glitter but I can’t get enough. If all Too Faced eye shadows are like this, sign me up. I will let those colours speak for themselves now…

I hate to basically bash a single brand but I tried to do a full face of make up using exclusively Benefit products and I just can’t. The Bad Gal lash, Watts Up highlighter, Positint, Stay Flawless primer and Fake Up Concealer just totally failed on me. Either they were underwhelming, patchy, not right for my skin tone or felt disgusting. Just to prove it, this is one of the pictures I took before washing it all off and doing something totally different.

You can tell by my face how I feel about this look. Other than that, I also discovered that the Rimmel Stay Matte primer isn’t for me after all. I may have liked it initially but at this point, I feel like my skin looks dry and even cakey when I use this with most if not all foundations in my collection. Their isn’t enough of a benefit to using this primer for me to keep trying so I will be passing it along.

The Essie polish you might have spotted is Parka Perfect and it is a beauty but I can’t get it to work. It will either bubble or wreck before it dries or both so despite the shade, I wont use it again.

Lets finish the post with my favourite face products and the show stopper this month is absolutely Oh Miley! from Marc Jacobs. This creme lipstick is flawless. The packaging is pure luxury but the formula and shade are right on as well. I don’t think I could possibly say enough good things about this lipstick.

I finally pulled out a new primer and foundation to try and discovered they are both winners. The Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless foundation should come as no shock. Everyone seems to love this stuff and I am no exception. It is a good shade for me and sits pretty well on my skin throughout the day. I feel like there is some oxidizing, but nothing out of hand. As for the primer, I feel like the Bare Minerals Prime Time is similar to my beloved Smashbox Photo Finish but a touch more lightweight. It almost seems more water based rather then silicone but it does give that slick finish you get with silicone primers.

I have been using the Jurlique Balancing Rose Water spray throughout the month as a boost of hydration and to bring a little more life to my skin when it’s looking a little on the dead, dry and cakey side. It feels nice and gives my skin a little more dew without going totally shiny. I am not much of a rose-scent lover but this is pretty alright in my books.

I think that’s about it for January. I can tell you now that February will be quite the mix of things if these first 11 days are any indication! Let me know what you’ve been loving lately. More importantly, let me know if I should keep doing this favourites posts!

Favourites & Unfavourites for December 2015

Hey all! I recently did a Best of 2015 post in lieu of my December Favourites but I felt like something was missing. I had a few different things I really loved during the month that I wanted to give some extra lovin’ but didn’t make the 2015 list. So, here I am with my December faves (and unfave).
bite beauty violet

Bite Beauty has been on my radar all month long. I was obsessed with the Best Bite Rewind set, I received the Bite Discovery set for Christmas which is beyond exciting, and that’s on top of what I already had from the brand. There is no surprise that I have a fave – but I also have an unfavourite. This has happened to myself and others before from what I have heard but the Bite Beauty lipsticks are prone to breaking or melting. I am not totally sure what happened here as this lipstick duo was simply sitting in my purse when I went for dinner, but the tube fell out and the lipstick squished or melted? I went to reapply it (This is the shade Violet) and noticed this had happened but the second side is totally unscathed. Yet another packaging malfunction I guess.

bite beauty torte hourglass icon
From the Best Bite Rewind set (swatches here), I am loving the Bite Beauty Matte lip crayon in Torte. This is a beautiful brown pink nude shade. The formulas for these are creamy and comfortable but as I mentioned in my review, not matte as they claim. That doesn’t bother me at all and I have been obsessed with this crayon all month. When I need something with some staying power, I have been reaching for the Hourglass liquid lipstick in Icon. Between Christmas, New Years and everything else, I have been so into the red lips but need something to last through visiting, meals, drinks and kisses. This totally does that and more while it stains the lips.

marcelle curling and lengthening mascara marc jacobs twinklepop benefit hello flawless foundation
I mentioned the Benefit Hello Flawless foundation a lot these past few months but here it is again. I have been wearing this without setting it with any powder (which I can do now that I am less oily) and found it even more incredible. I love this stuff. It is just so worth the $50.

I have been using the Marc Jacobs Twinklepop in Honey Bunny almost too much this holiday season. It is a cream shadow stick that gives your lid this amazing shimmer so of course, for the holidays, I wore this all the time.

A mascara favourite that I may have mentioned a few times as well, we have the Marcelle xtention plus curl mascara**. This is possibly my favourite mascara ever. I have been reaching for it over my Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara and it is less than half the price. I will be reviewing this soon to give you an idea on how it compares and wears with other mascaras. I think you might love it too!

peter thomas roth rose cucumber mask
As usual, I am all over masks this month but for a change, I am really into hydrating masks. I have two from Peter Tomas Roth that I have been wearing once or twice a week and can pretty much promise will be empty before February. I first started using the PTR Rose Stem Cell mask after a clay mask to firm up and soothe the skin and was overwhelmed by how nice it felt so from there, I started playing around with the PTR Cucumber Gel mask. These two along have been my outstanding favourites but I have been trying out a few more that you will likely see in upcoming #MaskMonday posts. Stay tuned!

sonia kashuk bewitched
On my nails, I have been pretty much naked or wearing the Sonia Kashuk polish in the shade Bewitched. I wore this for about a week with my Evergreen nails just before Christmas, but I had also been wearing this before hand to get me in the spirit! I got this before Target closed its doors in Canada but I know there are dupes out there!

Let me know what you have been loving in the comments! I am always open to beauty suggestions!

Best of 2015

best of 2015
Hey all! Welcome to the final day of 2015. I hope it is going well. Today, I thought I would talk about my favourite products that I have discovered this year. Some of these are now staples in my collection and you know them all if you have been tuning in for a while. I have mentioned most of these products in previous favourites or reviews which means they have withstood the test of time and I am still loving them. Let’s get into it.

Skin Care

reversa solution for oily acne prone skin vichy normaderm night detox
You may be totally aware that skin care has been priority number 1 for me this year and with that came a slew of products. The start of it all for me was the Vichy Normaderm Night Detox moisturizer that I initially received as a sample from Shoppers in March/April. It makes the world of difference for my skin in terms of acne. I have gone from some pretty painful breakouts to one-two little pimples using this product alone. Another acne fighting game-changer for me has been the Reversa Solution for Oily and acne prone skin**. I have used this both as a toner and an acne spot treatment and it delivers amazing results both ways. Pimples disappear in a day or two and my blackheads are clearing up making for a much smoother complexion. This is also available at Shoppers which I would never have guessed would be my one-stop-shop for skin care.

glamglow lippy girl lip love lip conditioning stick
If you know me, you know masks are my favourite thing and I have so many of them. The Glamglow Supermud clearing treatment is still my number one holy grail mud mask to clear things up but with the improvement in my skin near the end of the year, I see a change on the horizon. Regardless, this was my go-to mask for 2015 and it is totally worth it for you if you have oily/acne prone skin. My final skin care find of 2015 was a lip balm which I don’t think I will ever stray from: the Lippy Girl Lip Love Lip Conditioning stick in Eucalyptus Mint. This is an amazing balm for healing and hydrating and on top of that, it has all the good qualities of a product: cruelty-free, organic, lasts forever, smells great. All the good stuff.

Make Up

smashbox photo finish primers
physicians formula nude rose blush make up for ever ultra hd foundation benefit hello flawless oxygen wow foundation lise watier portfolio corrector wheel

What you’re really here for is the make up. There are quite a few in 2015 that I found and love and as usual, we will start with the primer. No shock here that my number one is the Smashbox Photo Finish primer. Thus far, I have enjoyed the entire line with my favourite being the Colour Correcting green shade to help with the redness I get in my cheeks. I also use the Lise Watier Portfolio Concealer Wheel daily to spot correct around my nose, mouth and cheeks with the green shade. The consistency is lovely with high coverage but no oiliness or cakey feel. I wish I had more uses for the other four shades in the palette but either way, it’s worth it to have this concealer in my routine.

For foundation, I have to go with the Benefit Hello Flawless and Make Up For Ever Ultra HD foundation. I love the coverage, the colour match, the lasting power, the finish and everything else for both of these. Though quite pricey, but I don’t think anything else I have tried quite compares. I prefer the Benefit Foundation far more when used without powder with its super yellow tones but when I am going for a more mattified complexion, the MUFE foundation is perfect. Another favourite face product would be the Physicians Formula blush in Nude Rose. This is a natural but very pink blush that I go for way more often than I would ever have guessed. It is hard to go to heavy handed with this blush because it is so nude-wearing but it gives a super pretty finish in my opinion.

annebelle stay sharp eye liner bronzey snow white too faced shadow insurance primer abh world traveller palette
For the eyes, it may not be a surprise that the Anastasia Beverly Hills World Traveler palette was my number one this year. It stole the show. The warm neutral but still bold shades and amazing pigmentation while still being soft and blendable. Seriously out of this world and I want to buy everything ABH has in powder form. Holy cow, I still can’t get over how beautiful this is. Before shadow comes primer and my eye shadow primer of choice is the Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer. It doesn’t look or feel cakey and it makes my shadows stick without ruining my blending which is something I haven’t found in other primers yet.

I have neglected eye liner a little bit this year but I still have a pencil and liquid fave. Annabelle totally blew me away with the Annabelle Stay Sharp eye liners of which I have a deep and undying love for Bronzey**, their brown metallic shade. It is water proof and doesn’t disappear through the day. It simply always looks flawless. My number one liquid liner I do not have anymore (ran out unfortunately) but still deserves a mention. It is the Make Up For Ever Ink Liner** and it is everything perfect in a liner. Easy to apply, black as it gets, matte and budge proof. It isn’t, however, waterproof.

Everything Else

colab dry shampoo rio new york
I have a hair and nail favourite that I thought should mention. For the hair, I pretty much stick to dry shampoo and my number one is totally COLAB Sheer Invisible or Xtreme Volume in Rio. I find the Xtreme Volume line harsher on my hair but when I need that volume, it is just the best. I don’t find their to be any white residue, it smells great and feels fantastic too. In terms of nails, the Essence Nail Art Express Dry Drops have become a staple when I do my nails. It is awesome on my cuticles and dries my nails quickly with little mess. Did I mention it is only $3?

Why not also throw in a trend favourite of 2015? I personally love the chunky boot style that I have seen this year and have picked up 2 pairs this fall that I adore. I don’t typically wear heels or care about shoes but these two from Spring are insanely comfortable and so beautiful. The Galiredien and Kingsmore styles are both on sale and I totally recommend giving them a try!

2015 as a year was pretty amazing and I can only hope to have another year like it for 2016! Let me know what you have loved this year so I can give them a try. Happy New Years all!

November 2015 Favourites & Unfavourites

Hey all! We’re well into our very last month of 2015 and I gotta say, I am pumped. I feel super festive this year and every day closer to Christmas just reinstates that excitement! It’s time for my monthly favourites and for a change, I don’t actually have ANY unfavourites. I haven’t been playing with many new things and whatever I have tried that is new, I have liked quite a bit. Lets get into it.

lippy girl lip love lip conditioning stick, peter thomas roth pumpkin and rose mask, origins charcoal mask

We’re gonna start off with skin care this month. I had pneumonia for the first half of November so I have been focusing a bit less on make up and more on skin care. I have been using up some masks and trying to make my skin nice and healthy before the weather comes in to terrorize the place. Something I plan to use into even the most dreadful of winters is the Lippy Girl Lip Love Lip Conditioning Stick. I got this last year around this time to try it out as it is cruelty free, organic and vegan which I tend to gravitate towards. Over the past month between being ill and the colder weather, I have been applying this at night for a burst of hydration. And I love it.

The three masks I have really loved are the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask, Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair mask and the Origins Charcoal mask. Both PTR masks came as mini’s in a kit I bought earlier this year and I gotta say, I am impressed. The Pumpkin mask (with it being fall, I thought it was appropriate to finally break this bad boy open) is a major exfoliator and has helped my skin stay soft and that much cleaner. You can feel it working as you apply it and I quite like the smell but some people wont. It is very pumpkin candle-y. After using such a intense mask, I like to apply the Rose gel mask to soothe my skin. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this felt. Unlike any mask I have used, it was quite cooling and hydrating without being oily. I plan to give more gel masks a try after this one. Of course, being an oily girl, I couldn’t be without my deep-pore cleansing mask and this month, I pulled out an oldie which I wasn’t really a fan initially. This is the Origins Charcoal mask which I have heard people rave about in the past which is how I ended up with it (YouTubers are such enablers). I didn’t find it did that much for me but this time around, I really liked it. It was very good at tightening my pores and seemingly cleaning them.

abh world traveller palette, cover girl lipstick in succulent cherry

As I said, I wasn’t incredibly focused on make up but there are two products I did love. The ABH World Traveller Palette  which is now totally gone, unfortunately, has been a fave since I got it in the late summer. The quality of these shadows it out of this world and I particularly love the shade range in this thing. With this, I have been tip-toeing into the Christmas spirit with a bold red lip. I actually have a whole post with my recommendations but the one I have been wearing the most actually isn’t even on the list. The Covergirl lipstick in Succulent Cherry is one of two lipsticks I keep at work in case I want a bold lip that day and I have gotten into the habit of taking off whatever I do have and putting it on right when I get in the door. Oops. It’s a glossy but pigmented red that stays put. The one issue I have with it is the smell which is awful, but obviously, I have been putting up with it to get that colour.

demeter snow and christmas tree, maple holistics degrease shampoo

Now for a few random favourites. Keeping in line with beauty, I really love the Maple Holistics Degrease shampoo**. For those of you out there with an overly oily head of hair, listen up. It does a fantastic job of lathering (super important to me), cleaning the hair of everything without stripping it at all and I really like how it smells. It’s rather herbal and is made of entirely organic ingredients. I plan on checking out their entire range of shampoo rather than going back to the drugstore.

With the holidays coming, I have pulled out an old collection from Demeter. I believe both of these are still sold individually so don’t fret. I actually didn’t do this before, but Roxanne mixed the Snow and Christmas Tree fragrance** together to make this amazing, woodsey scent which we have been using all about out house this year. It is a beautiful winter smell which is getting both of us in the festive spirit!

Let me know what I have been missing out on from your favourites in the comments below! I am always looking for new things to try. Also let me know whether you have tried any of these things yourself!
