#MOTD: Unicorns and Rainbows

Feeling a little inspired by the Starbucks drink and Pride Week which is coming up fast, I decided to create a unicorn look using a variety of colourful shades and glitter.

I love how glowey and vibrant the eyes were! Both of the palettes I used for this are my favourites if I am going for a colourful look because they apply and blend so easily.

#MOTD: My First Video

As you may have guessed, this little tutorial here also comes with a video! I am not sure how often I will include a video, whether this is the style I will stick with, and so on, but I hope you at least enjoyed this one!

Primer: I used the Cover FX Calming Primer for the first time here.

Concealer: the BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Perfecting Concealer. I used the yellow shade on my redness and the lightest pinky shade on my undereyes. Following that, I used some Hard Candy Glamoflauge in Ultra Light under my eyes to brighten. After some foundation, I added in a little more and blended it in fully.

Foundation: A recent discovery and favourite is the Gosh X-Ceptional Wear Foundation in Porcelain.

Powder: To set it all, I used the Essence All About Matt powder.

Brows: Quo Brow Focus in Brunette.

Eye shadow primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Eye shadow: I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills World Traveller palette. This was limited edition but many shades are still available. All over everything, I used Soft Peach. In the crease and outter corner, we have some Fudge. On the lid, I added Bellini for a little more shimmer and pigment. Going in with two of my favourite shades of the palette, I put Intense Gaze exactly where I put Bellini, then Pink Champagne on top. In the crease, I added Azure quite heavily and blended until I was happy. I had to touch up with Pink Champagne when I was done.

Eye liner: I added a bit of Annabelle eye liner in Espresso.

Mascara: Too Faced Better Than Sex.

Bronzer: Tarte The Sculpter in Park Ave Princess.

Blush: BH Cosmetics Blush Palette

Highlight: The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer.

Lipstick: Hourglass Liquid Lipstick in Canvas.

Please let me know what you think of my first ever video and this format for a tutorial. All of the products used were cruelty free, but not all of the brushes!

#MOTD: Palette Bingo

I don’t know why it took me so long to hop on the Palette Bingo train, but now that I have done it, I am pretty pleased with the look and might just have to do it more often. For those of you that don’t know, Palette Bingo is where you take a large palette like this BH Cosmetics 88 Palette in Cool Matte, number the rows and coloumns and play a little bingo. I used RANDOM.ORG to draw 5 numbers 1-11 and then 1-8. You can use any other products with these 5 colours but you have to incorporate them all!

The colours I got were: a shimmery sky blue(B), a beige(I), a brown/gold(N), pure purple (G) and a periwinkle purple(O). I played around with the colours a lot because I just couldn’t find a combination I loved especially with the darkest purple in there. In the end, I settled on this mermaid-type look that is very similar to something I wore in my first blog post – imagine that!

First, I used Urban Decay Primer Potion with NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. After blending that in with my finger, I used the I shadow to set everything. I used the N shadow in the inner corner of my eye to keep it light while using the O eyeshadow in the crease. The B shade ended up on my lid and looked quite green in comparison to the crease colour. Though I liked how it looked at this point, I had to incorporate G so I deepened the outter corner and did some extra blending. I ended up going back in with some of my inner corner and lid shadow to brighten them up and create a seemless blend. To finish, I ran the Rimmel Scandaleyes eye shadow stick in Bulletproof Beige in my waterline and set it with my golden N shade to make it last. I added the Dior Diorshow Overcurl mascara onto my lashes and that’s my look!

 The rest of my face:

Primer: Smashbox Photofinish Primer in Original

Concealer: I used the Lise Watier Portfolio Colour Wheel in light. Under my eyes, I used Ivory. On my redness, I used green. For some contour, I used brown

Foundation: Vichy Idealia BB Cream in Light

Under eye concealer: Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer/Highlighter in Light

Powder: elf Correcting Powder

Blush: L’Oreal Truematch Blush in C2

Highlight: The Balm Mary- Lou Manizer highlighter

Brows: a combination of the BH Cosmetics Brow Pencil and Rimmel Brow This Way gel in blonde

Lips: Revlon Colourstay Matte Balm in Sultry

I encourage you to do your own Palette Bingo! It’s a blast and helps shake things up a little.

Addicted To Blush Tag

Back in March, the lovely and beautiful Melanie from I am not a beauty guru tagged me to do the Addicted To Blush Tag! This tag has been floating around the beauty community lately so I was super excited to be tagged to join the fun!

1. What colour blush suits you the most?

I really love the wind-burned, frost-bitten type of look on myself and to achieve that, I go with a red-pink. I typically will achieve this look with the Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee in Pink Escape which comes off very natural but still quite strong.

2. Pressed/cream/loose blush?

I have never tried a loose blush but I tend to love a cream blush. Though I am oily and it doesn’t always last on me, I find it looks so much more natural and feels better on my skin. I will top it with a powder blush for double the lasting power.

3. Favourite shimmery blush?

I gotta go with the Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink. With my acne scarring and large pores, I stay away from shimmer but it’s just a gorgeous shade and an awesome formula.

4. Favourite matte blush?

It’s so hard to pick a matte blush shade that is my number one but I think I am going to go with the Too Faced How Deep Is Your Love? I love the formula of these blushes and they are one of the few matte blushes I own.

5. Favourite cream blush?

I have to go with the Josie Maran blush I mentioned earlier. I love the natural but noticeable flush of this blush.

6. Favourite drugstore blush?

I have to say my favourite and most used blush is Physicians Formula Nude Wear in Rose. It is definitely a light pink shade that I don’t typically go to but something about it looks so subtle and goes with everything.

7. Favourite high end blush?

Though I haven’t dabbled too much into the high end world of blush, I do love the Too Faced Love Flush blushes. They last hours, I love the company, the packaging is the most adorable thing ever, and of course, they have great pigment. What’s not to love?

8. Favourite bright blush?

If I am going bright, I am going for something bold so I would go with one of the two bright shades in my BH Cosmetics blush palette. One is a cool toned pink and one is a super bright orange.

9. Biggest blush disappointment or regret?

Though this isn’t exactly a blush product, I am disappointed in the two blushes from the BH Cosmetics Contour and Blush palette in Light. First off, they are the exact same shade so it is useless to have both in the palette but they are also so pigmented and intense, it would be hard not to look like a clown. I bought this for the highlight/contour shades though so I am not entirely disappointed.

10. Best blush packaging?

Totally 100% going with Too Faced again. I can’t deal with how adorable their stuff is and heart shaped things are totally my thing.

11. What’s on your blush wish list?

I have definitely not tried enough high end blushes so I am going to have to go with some of the Urban Decay Afterglow blushes or the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecting blush. I have some serious heart-eyes for these two.

12. Number 1 holy grail blush?

I am not sure I could pick one blush or even one brand that is my holy grail because I love different blushes for different reasons. Every company I have mentioned here is fantastic and bonus, they are all cruelty-free!

If anything, I hope this tag introduced you to a few less-talked about gems! I am always interested in recommendations so leave them for me below! If you would like to do this tag, go for it and leave your link below! I would love to hear what you’re faves are. Thanks again to Melanie for tagging me!

#MOTD: Simple New Years Eve

Hey all! Every beauty blogger/YouTuber is giving their two cents when it comes to what they are wearing this New Years and I thought it would be fun to join in. This is pretty subtle compared to a lot that I have seen this holiday season but I thought I would showcase two products I have loved this December: the Marc Jacobs Twinklepop in Honey Bunny and Hourglass Liquid Lipstick in Icon.

Cream Eyeshadow: Marc Jacobs Twinklepop in Honey Bunny all over the lids and blended in with a dense brush.

Powder Eyeshadow: the Stila Portrait of a Perfect Eye. Using Rosewood (dark, matte brown) in the crease to deepen and blend the shadow in a little more then Linen (light champagne shimmer) on the MJ Twinklepop to set it and further blend into the crease.

Liquid Liner: the Elizabeth Mott You’re So Fine eye liner in Glitterati to create a long wing with some new years glitter.

Mascara: a current favourite, the Marcelle Curling and Lengthening xtention + curl mascara.

Lipstick: the Hourglass liquid lipstick in Icon which stole the show in my classic red lipstick recommendations.

new years motd
This look features that bit of champagne glitter that every New Years Eve should have PLUS a super kissable set of red lips that will stay in place. To bump this up even more, a highlight and some false lashes would look stunning with this!

I hope you liked my tutorial! I haven’t totally found my writing style when it comes to tutorials so let me know how you liked this one! As always, be sure to let me know how you feel about the products used as well.

Fall Haul Y’all 2015

Hey all! Who was about to resist the holiday deals? I must admit, I finally gave in. I have been pretty good all year long about not buying too many beauty products but it was time to do a little bit of shopping!

dr brandt light years away brightening eye cream and color club nail polish

Maybe it’s a little weird, but I am most excited about how good of a deal I got! I believe this product is no longer available, but it sounds like it is exactly what I have been looking for to fix my under eye problem. This is the Dr Brandt Light Years Away brightening eye cream which I got for $20. When I looked this product up, it was for between $50-$95 (there was a big price gap depending where you looked). I love deals like that! What this product claims to do is lighten the under eye darkness that I have a big issue with, minimize lines/wrinkles which I am starting to see and moisturize which never really hurts! I think this will last me quite some time and I am extremely excited to try it out.

dr brandt light years away and color club seven deadly sins nail polish

I picked up a mini 4 pack of the Color Club nail polishes from the Seven Deadly Sins collection. They are textured nail polishes with a mixture of purple and gold which is right up my ally. My only complaint is they don’t mention the names anywhere (but of course, I checked online and found out the colour names). I have never tried Color Club so I am excited to give these a go.

Make up

I am obsessed (seriously obsessed) with lipstick right now and was able to get my hands on the Bite Beauty Best Bite Rewind set of 4 matte lippies. They have been sold out for a while but when I was recently at Sephora, they had a healthy supply available so I snatched it up right away. I am obsessed with these four shades. On the same mall trip, I did my first Back To Mac exchange and picked up a gorgous purple Mac Amplified lipstick in Up The Amp. I haven’t heard of it before, but I am so so obsessed with the shade and excited to wear it. One more lip product came from BH Cosmetics who recently launched liquid lipsticks. I grabbed Endora which is a pinky-rose shade. I am not a big liquid lipstick lover, but I thought I would give it an honest try.

bh cosmetics haul

bh cosmetics liquid lipstick, blush and contor kit, studio pro concealer

Also from BH Cosmetics, I finally picked up the light Blush/Contour palette that I have been looking at for months. I wont lie, I am a little disappointed that the shades were darker than they look online/on the packaging, but I still hope to make them work. I was pleasently surprised by how the Studio Pro Perfecting Concealer wheel in Light looked though. I have been hunting down a salmon concealer for my under eyes and this wheel of 5 gives me a good variety of colours (all of which I can use) including two that would be perfect for the job. I love BH Cosmetics.

bh cosmetics sculpt and blend set

The finial thing I picked up from BH was a brush set that I have been thinking about for probably 2-3 years now. I picked up a similar set on Amazon which to me, eliminated the purpose of getting this 10 piece Sculpt and Blend set, but now that I am even more obsessed with make up, I wanted a second set to try out. BH Brushes are pretty standard but I have never had issues with washing them, bristles falling out, use, breakage, or anything and they are very affordable. I also trust BH Cosmetics as a company, they are cruelty free and I get money back through ebates whenever I purchase from them! These brushes are also very soft and thus far, easy to use.
